cinematography is the art of motion picture photogrtaphy. cinematographers use a lens to focus reflected light from objects into real image that transfers to some image sensor or light-sensitive material inside a movie camera.
Background information
film makers use shot types and angles to convey meanings to the plot.
For example low angle shots represents that the character has a lot of power and a long distance shot is used to show the setting.
Close ups are used to represent extreme importance. sequence is is multiple scenes to tell a story.
Analysis is the act of taking something complicated and break it down. A shot is an unbroken span of action
Movies rely heavily on largely invisible techniques
Cinematic language is the visual vocabulary of film.
The audiences perception of a story is affected by cultural differences.
Form – the means by which a subject is expressed
Every element in every frame is there for a reason
fade in / fade out are the dissolving to or from black.
Alternative approaches analyze movies more as cultural artifacts than as traditional works of art.
Reflection
I learned that cinematography have a significant meaning because the different techniques used to convey emotion and meaning. There's a lot of different elements of cinematography that make up the meaning of a film.
